Academic Services, as an academic support unit, is dedicated to the provision of service and academic data resource stewardship for all students and colleges in ways that uphold the integrity of the academic enterprise. Services provided must address client demand in an increasingly competitive and global environment and be timely, accurate, and in compliance with Michigan State University policies and governmental regulations. Outreach activities focus on recruitment, financial-aid education, development, and the education of others to use data resources and applications with integrity.
Linda O. Stanford serves currently as Associate Provost for Academic Services. Her responsibilities include leadership of the enrollment services units: Admissions, Financial Aid, and Registrar; University Curriculum and Catalog; Program Review; Summer Session Budget, Commencement, and project manager for the Broad Art Museum.
Prior administrative positions include Assistant Provost for Academic Services and University Registrar; Assistant to the Provost for Curriculum; Chair, Department of Art and Art History; Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, College of Arts and Letters; Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, College of Arts and Letters; and Associate Chair, Department of Art and Art History.
She is an architectural historian who is a Professor in the Department of Art and Art History where she taught the history of twentieth-century art and architecture. She has published in national and regional venues and presented lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally. In 2002, her co-authored book, MSU Campus. Buildings, Places, Spaces. Architecture and the Campus Park of Michigan State University, was published by MSU Press. It was reprinted in 2004. For many years, she served on the State of Michigan Historic Preservation Review Board.
She earned an A.B. in Design at Hunter College, City University of New York; a M.S. in Art Education at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN; and a Ph.D. in Art History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. Honors include the Hunter College Hall of Fame; Outstanding Faculty Woman Award from the Faculty-Professional Women's Association, MSU; and ACE Fellow, American Council on Education.
