International Studies and Programs Dean Search

03-29-2013

I am pleased to announce that the advisory committee for the search for the position of Dean of International Studies and Programs has been established and their work will commence immediately.

The dean of ISP plays an important role at MSU, both on campus and around the world. Responsible for facilitating program development and implementation in cooperation with the deans of MSU’s academic and professional colleges, the ISP dean has direct responsibility for five area studies centers and nine other programs and offices. MSU has been a leader in developing a “matrix” organizational model to meet the challenges of internationalization within the University and across its 17 colleges. ISP has been a partner and catalyst in that process to stimulate and support an international dimension across all of MSU’s missions and throughout all administrative units.

MSU’s success in internationalization has resulted in major awards and inclusion in prestigious global partnerships. In 2012 MSU was selected to join The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program and USAID’s Higher Education Solutions Network. MSU also was awarded management responsibility for the Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research and Development program. These programs are designed to harness the capacities of a global network of partners to help address the world’s most pressing problems and most promising opportunities. The new Dean will continue our work supporting faculty across colleges, and in advancing in the strategic directions the University is currently pursuing.
