Academic Services, Enrollment Management, and Academic Initiatives is an organization dedicated to the provision of service, information resources, and academic data resource stewardship for all students and colleges in ways that uphold the integrity of the academic enterprise. Services provided must address client demand in an increasingly competitive and global environment and be timely, accurate, and in compliance with Michigan State University policies and governmental regulations. Outreach activities focus on recruitment, financial-aid education, development, and the education of others to use data resources and applications responsibly. Michigan State University’s Libraries support the University's mission of preservation, creation, transmission, and application of knowledge.

John D. Gaboury serves currently as associate provost for Academic Services, Enrollment Management, and Academic Initiatives. His administrative portfolio includes leadership of the Enrollment Services units: Admissions, Financial Aid, and Registrar; University Curriculum and Catalog; Academic Program Review and Accreditation; Summer Session Budget; Commencement; Academic Services Budget and Personnel; and State Authorization - U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) Program Integrity.

Prior administrative positions include executive director of learning ventures and University of Toledo Online; vice provost for Faculty and Organizational Development; dean of Libraries, eLearning, and Academic Support; associate vice president for Academic Affairs and CIO; and dean of Mississippi State University Libraries. He provided leadership for the formation of the Virtual Academic Library Environment (VALE) consortium for New Jersey Higher Education and served as the founding executive director. He has held tenured professor positions at several universities and has published in national and regional venues and presented lectures/papers regionally, nationally, and internationally. During his professional career he served three multiple-year terms as an elected trustee of the New Jersey Intercampus Network, Inc. (NJIN) Board of Trustees. 

He earned a B.S. in communication at the University of Florida; a M.L.S. in library administration at Florida State University; and an Ed.D. in higher education administration at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA.
