Academic Human Resources Leadership
07-02-2020
Dear colleagues,
You may remember that Interim Provost Sullivan sent an email to the DDC list in February sharing the news of Terry Curry’s intent to step down from his role as associate provost and associate vice president for academic human resources, as a part of his transition to retirement. Consistent with that communication, Terry will leave the associate provost role on July 5 and use his terminal consultantship year assisting the provost as needed. Since an interim associate provost has not yet been appointed, I want to provide you with guidance on whom to reach out to with questions related to faculty and academic staff after July 5.
Beginning next Monday, please contact your assigned AHR director for any questions or concerns you may have. Kara Yermak, Kathy Lewless, or Melissa Sortman will respond and provide the support and continuity needed until an interim associate provost is named in the next few weeks. My thanks to each of them for their expertise and collegiality during this time of transition.
As many of you well know, Terry Curry has been a legacy presence here at MSU. Over his 13 years as associate provost, Terry has provided wise counsel and direction to administrators, faculty, academic staff, executives, and academic governance. A strong advocate of professional development, he has encouraged many of us to advance our leadership capabilities and, in turn, advance Michigan State University. A steady and calming presence in even the toughest of times, he will truly be missed. I know you all join me in warmly thanking Terry for his unstinting support and dedicated service to MSU, and in wishing him all the best as he transitions toward retirement.
Sincerely,
Thomas D. Jeitschko
Acting Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
