February 25, 2023
Email from Interim Provost Thomas Jeitschko to colleagues. The message acknowledges the difficult week for the entire Spartan community. "As this week has come to a close, I am taking a moment to write to express my deep appreciation to you. You have navigated the week with compassion and flexibility. While grappling with the recent violence, you adjusted syllabi, you employed empathy and flexibility as you interacted with and advised students, and you supported each other and your staff—serving as a listening ear, compiling resources, advocating, and in a variety of other ways. You have shown up in big ways and small ways and it has not gone unnoticed. I thank you, very much so," said Jeitschko.

To learn together. This is a different semester than anyone had hoped for. It’s okay to reset expectations about what's important and give time and space for healing. The information included in the message is intended to help students.

Moving Forward Together
February 17, 2023
Email from Interim Provost Thomas Jeitschko to faculty, academic staff, and advisors with support, services and compiled resources to help identify how the MSU community can best move forward, together. As the deans and I discussed this week, if we don’t come together, we will come apart. Experts note the distinct value of returning to common spaces and practices as a helpful way to find perspective and regain a sense of self and community. To make this happen, we all have to work together, with trauma-informed perspectives and actions.
