Update on the Policy on Protection from Retaliation for Reporting Misconduct

Feb. 26, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

Michigan State University is committed to creating a inclusive, and respectful learning and working environment. As part of this commitment, we have introduced the interim Policy on Protection from Retaliation for Reporting Misconduct

This new policy protects members of the university community from retaliation when they report concerns in good faith or participate in an investigation or review of misconduct. It complements, rather than replaces, existing university policies that prohibit retaliation.

Introducing this policy is critical in strengthening our efforts to create a working and learning environment in which excellence and opportunity thrive. Employees and students who experience or become aware of retaliation are encouraged to report the incident to a university official as soon as possible. Supervisors and administrators are expected to report any incidents they observe or learn about in the workplace, classroom, or other university settings.

Thank you for your attention to this new policy, and for all that you do to create a campus community where excellence and opportunity thrive.

Sincerely,
